Insulation

The house is fully painted outside (other than the lanai and the railings because those have not been built yet). It looks great! It blends into the hillside really nicely so that we are not in-your-face up on the hill screaming "look at me" which is what we were try to avoid and it seems we pulled it off. Word at a recent funeral attended by all of the long time, local, end-of-the-road folks whose families go way way back to Kamehameha ancestry is that we are doing a really nice job and they approve and feel it fits the character of the place (and we didn't go to this funural so people weren't just saying these things to be nice to us;-). I don't have any great photos of the outside yet, as I seem to always either 1.) forget my camera or 2.) I get out there and my camera memory is full or 3.) my battery is dead. That sounds like a long list of lame excuses, but the most lame part of it - is that it is the truth!

The insulation is finished:

The bathrooms are prepped for tile:

We have a front door:
It is clear glass - just covered for now.

So while I have been busy NOT updating this blog all of these things happened! Along with tons of other stuff that isn't very exciting in a visual impact kind of way, but is the kind of stuff that makes Billy happy and will result in a habitable home :)

Perhaps most exciting is that we also now have drywall up! Billy warned us that the drywall step always makes the house look way smaller. I guess people tend to freak out about that and he was trying to prepare us (and spare himself my freaking?) But seriously, the only thing that looks smaller to me is one of the master closets because before the drywall it looked like it was way longer as there is a closet that butts against it but that is accessed on the other side of the wall. Maybe I was expecting wee bitty rooms, but they look plenty big to me! High ceilings probably help with that. It looks so cool and feels so house like now! I really wish I could post some pictures of it here now, but I went out to take photos last night and, well, you can guess the rest....

Thanks for the new pics. Everything looks great and I'm excited to get out there and see it next month. Maybe I'll bring you a spare memory card and battery as housewarming gifts!
